MIZZU X Tasya Farasya Sunset Eyeshadow Palette Review

MIZZU x Tasya Farasya Sunset Eyeshadow Palette

I have to confess that I am drawn to this palette because of the packaging. It is oh so beautiful. I had to give Tasya two thumbs up for her ideas on this packaging. It is so sleek and elegant. It even looks like high end makeup that you can buy in Sephora. In her Youtube channel, Tasya said that she was inspired by the color of sunset. That inspiration can be seen in the gradation of yellow to purple. The writing of Sunset itself is holographic, which makes it more beautiful.

This limited edition eyeshadow is very affordable. It costs only IDR 125.000, including Nivea eye makeup remover and micellar water. The makeup remover and micellar water each cost around IDR 30.000. That means that the eyeshadow palette costs less than IDR 100.000 for 7.8 g of products (each 1.3 g). However, how is the quality of the eyeshadow? Is it as good as the packaging? Keep on reading to find out.

The eyeshadow palette comes with a set containing Nivea Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover, Nivea Micellar Water, and the Mizzu Sunset Palette itself. The package is named Make Up by Tasya Farasya #CleansedByNIVEA package. It is sold exclusively in Guardian. In the backside of the box, there is a description on those products. a little review on the Nivea products, those products are doing their job really well. The makeup remover can erase stubborn mascara and eyeshadow almost in one swipe. The micellar water also does it job to clean makeup yet does not make my skin dry.

Now, let’s talk only about the eyeshadow palette. As I said earlier, I bought this eyeshadow palette because of the packaging. It really is gorgeous. It has magnetic closure that comes very handy while traveling. It keeps the inside safe. Opening the palette, you will see a nice mirror. You really can do makeup while on the go using this palette.

MIZZU x Tasya Farasya Sunset Eyeshadow Palette with Sheet

Here comes the things that let me down. First, the sheet that they use to cover the eyeshadow is made from white paper that looks cheap. For me, it is similar to, as I say in Indonesian, plastik pembungkus dodol. Even though that’s the case, I won’t throw it away because it can keep my eyeshadow clean. Well, let’s move on to the eyeshadow. There are six eyeshadows in this palette. Now comes the second thing that I don’t like. The color selection is great, but they don’t place the pan in the box really well. Mine is uneven. The brown one (second from the right) looks like it will come off from the box. The third one that I don’t like is that each color doesn’t have a name on it.

Color Selection

The color selection is great. You can create tons of looks using this palette. The color in this palette is also available in Mizzu Gradical Eyeshadow. Tasya picks the color that she likes the most to put in this palette. It looks like it does not have transition shade, but you can mix the brown and the orange to get a nice transition shade. But, bear in mind that all eyeshadow in this palette are shimmery. If you prefer matte shadow as your base or transition, you will have to use another palette.

Each color in this palette is not super pigmented. However, you can build it up to get a bold color. I suggest wearing eyeshadow primer or concealer to get more color payoff. Some of the colors are more patchy, some also has fallout. Here’s a review on each color, but because the color doesn’t have a name, I will give them number from left to right:

Shade 1

Shade 1

The first color in this palette is shimmer beige with satin finish. The texture of this color is smooth that feels creamy on the pan. It has a good color pay-off and a little fallout. You can use this as brow bone and inner tear duct highlight. If you want to, you can use this to highlight cheek bone and the bridge of your nose. But, beware that this eyeshadow has specks of glitter. I rate this color 3.5 out of 5.

Shade 2

Shade 2

The second shade is shimmer light pink with satin finish. This color is not as fine and creamy as the first color. You will get more color payoff if using primer and use finger to apply the color on the lid. You can also use flat and firm eyeshadow brush. I rate this color 3 out of 5.

Shade 3

Shade 3

This shimmer orange color with satin finish is my favorite among those colors. It glides on smoothly almost without fallout. Unlike other colors, you cannot see glitter specks in this one. This color almost looks like duochrome because it has metallic sheen. This color can also be used as transition when mixed with the brown one. I rate this color 4 out of 5.

Shade 4

Swatch 4

Among all colors, shade 4 which is bluish purple with flecks of glitter  over matte finish is the most patchy. It does not blend well. You will have to blend hard to get an even result. It also kick out a lot of excess product in the pan. The color is actually pretty but the formula let me down. I rate this color 2 out of 5.

Shade 5

Shade 5

Shade no 5 is brown with flecks of gold over satin finish. The color is semi-opaque but buildable. You really have to prime your eyelid to get a smooth and even application. I tried wearing this without primer and it is very hard to blend. I rate this color 3.5 out of 5.

Shade 6

Shade 6

The last color is deep black with matte finish. It has semi-opaque color payoff that you can build up to get more intense color. This has the most fallout during application. I would not recommend this color to use all over the lid because it will be very patchy, but this is good to deepen up and smoke out outer v. I rate this color 3 out of 5.

To create this look, I mix shade 3 and 5 on the crease, then I put shade 4 all over the lid. After that, I did cut crease on the quarter front of my lid with concealer and then I put shade 2 on top of that. I deepened outer v with shade 6. To finish off put shade 3 along lower lash line.

Opinion

I did not change my mind that I like this eyeshadow palette for the packaging. You can also travel with it without hassle. The color selection is also good. I rate this eyeshadow palette 3.5 out of 5 because they don’t press the pan neatly into the palette. Some color is also patchy that is hard to blend.
